The NFL
Alumni Charity Golf Classic Tour of tournaments is a unique vehicle for
aggressive marketers involved in sports and related areas to reach a
high-quality audience of top corporate executives, affluent sportsmen and
civic leaders. The tour and the Super Bowl of Golf championship event offer
advertising, public relations and promotional opportunities at every level
from national sponsorships to local advertising and promotions, including
contributions in kind and cause-related marketing possibilities in more
than 25 markets.
What
The largest series of charity amateur golf tournaments on the circuit
with a national championship. Quality one-day, 18-hole team scramble
play in a shotgun format, with golfers playing on teams captained by the
legends of professional football.
The tournaments are played on some of the finest courses in the
country, including Doral in Miami, Firestone in Akron, TPC at Sawgrass
in Jacksonville and Olympic Club in San Francisco.
When and Where
From January to November every year, in more than 25 major markets,
with the Super Bowl of Golf in a sunbelt resort the following
spring.
History
The Alumni series started in 1979 with pilot tournaments in
Detroit and Philadelphia and grew to nine tournaments in 1980,
when the first Super Bowl of Golf was played. Now in its 20th
year, the tour has a track record of more than 450 successful
tournaments and has raised millions of dollars for more than 175
"adopted" youth charities and youth sports groups
nationwide.
